It's National Cat Day! Celebrate With Kittens From Uber

By Christy Strawser

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) It's cold and gloomy outside in metro Detroit, and as an added downer it's not Friday yet. Who's up for kittens?

Today has been officially declared National Cat Day, so here's hoping it doesn't step on national eat bacon at work day or the lesser-known speak like Shatner day. On a serious note, National Cat Day is officially dedicated to "help galvanize the public to recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their life for the unconditional love and companionship they bestow upon us."

To celebrate the day officially set aside for our feline friends, Uber is offering a deal: If you go to your Uber app between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., you can have kittens delivered to your home or office.

They'll be yours to cuddle and coo over for 15 minutes. The best part is that many of the kittens being delivered are also available for adoption, so if you really want to love it and pet it and call it your own -- you could do it for real.

Locally, the kittens will come from All About Animals Rescue, Macomb County Rescue, and Guardian Angel Rescue.

There is a $30 snuggle fee for the kitten delivery.
