$2,500 Reward Offered In Case Of CMU Student Killed In Hit-And-Run

MOUNT PLEASANT (WWJ) - Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver wanted in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Central Michigan University student.

Ryan Tsatsos of Macomb Township was walking to his residence hall with friends just after midnight on Halloween when he was struck in what's been described as a poorly lit area with no sidewalks.

Michigan  State Police Detective Sergeant Gary Green says a female student told investigators the 18-year-old freshman saved her life when he pushed her out of the way.

The vehicle is described by witnesses as older, dark-in-color four-door car. It likely has front passenger-side damage.

Anyone who can identify the responsible driver or the suspect vehicle or who has any information that could help detectives in this case is urged to call 800-422-JAIL (5245) at 800-422-JAIL (5245). State police say they're also taking tips about the vehicle at 989-773-5951.

This is the second tragedy to strike the Tsatsos family this year — three months ago, Tsatsos' 19-year-old brother Darryl was killed in a crash in Macomb County.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral and other expenses for Tsatsos' family. To contribute or for more information, visit this link.
