YPSILANTI TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities say a 37-year-old man was gunned down when he answered the door at his Ypsilanti Township home — and they're hoping a suspect sketch will help them to identify the killer.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's officials on Tuesday released the composite image of an unknown gunman who fatally shot Eric Lee Hargrove the night of Sunday, Nov. 1, in the 800 block of Desoto Ave.

Hargrove and his family heard a knock at the door, he answered, and was shot, according to investigators. The suspect fled the scene and a family member called 911. Hargrove was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Sheriff's officials said a motive for the killing is still unknown as an investigation continues.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, around 6 feet tall with a slim build. He has a light complexion, short hair,
and beard and mustache and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Anyone who may be able to help identify the man in the sketch, knows where the shooter might be or who has any information about this case is asked to call Det. Raisanen at the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office at 734-973-4924, the confidential tip line at 734-973-7711, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP (1-800-773-2587).
