Nearly 3 Dozen Dogs Removed From Home In Rural Michigan

GREENLEAF TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say nearly three dozen dogs have been removed from a home in Michigan's rural Thumb region.

The Times Herald of Port Huron and The Saginaw News report the 28 puppies and six adult female dogs were removed Thursday in Sanilac County's Greenleaf Township.

A search warrant was executed but no charges have yet been filed.

The dogs are being held at Sanilac County Humane Society. Humane Society Director Carol Schmidt says the smaller breed dogs were being examined Friday but appeared to be in "fairly good health."

Undersheriff Bradley Roff says the animals were temporarily removed because the owners didn't appear to meet proper care standards.
