Inkster Woman Held On $1 Million Bond In Deaths Of 2 Motorcyclists On I-94
ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - A 34-year-old Inkster woman who was driving on a suspended license has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on I-94 that killed two motorcyclists.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says Chana Woods was under the influence of drugs at the time of Saturday's crash. She's charged with two counts each of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing death, and driving with a suspended license.
The accident happened around 2:35 p.m. when Woods lost control of her SUV on eastbound I-94 near Oakwood Boulevard in Allen Park. Her SUV ran off the roadway, crossed the median into the westbound lanes and slammed into two motorcycles driven by 48-year-old Marko Rubin, of Macomb Township, and 49-year-old France Bowers, of Southfield. Both were declared dead at the scene.
Woods was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. During a search of her vehicle, police found marijuana and "a paper lotto ticket with Heroin residue."
Woods was arraigned on the charges Tuesday in 24th District Court and ordered held on a $1 million bond. She's due back in court on Nov. 30.
