Limo Company Has Operating Certificate Revoked By State For Failing Safety Inspections

DETROIT (WWJ) - A local company has its bus and limo operating certificates revoked after the state says it failed safety inspections.

Michigan Department of Transportation says they've revoked Entertainment Express's bus and limo operating certificates, after the Dearborn Heights company's vehicles failed several safety inspections.

MDOT's Rob Pearson said there were a number of times the company was cited from State Police.

"Safety of the passenger is the number one focus of our office --we want to make sure if someone rents a vehicle -them and their family can get aboard and be assured that the brakes are going to work ... and that they can have a safe carefree trip," said Pearson.

"When the MSP cited the carrier for the violations, he referred for items such as operating without MDOT authority, without having sufficient insurance and even operating a vehicle that MDOT had placed out of service for a safety violation - the carrier willfully decided to operate illegally with that vehicle."

MDOT's Rob Pearson says Entertainment Express's vehicles did not have enough or had blocked emergency exits, as well as worn brake pads, bald tires, and "a multitude of other violations." We have a call out the company for comment.
