Caught On Camera: Man Steals Wallet, Police Badge Mistakenly Left At Party Store By Off-Duty Officer [VIDEO]

WATERFORD (WWJ) - Officials are hoping the public can help identify a man who was caught on video stealing a wallet and police badge that was mistakenly left behind at a Waterford party store by an off-duty officer.

Authorities say the officer accidentally left his wallet on the counter of the Lakeways Market on Pontiac Lake Road, near Cass Lake Road, on Friday, Nov. 6 after making a purchase at the store.

When the officer returned to the business, his wallet -- which contained his Michigan driver's license, credit cards, police ID and badge -- was nowhere to be found.

Surveillance video from the business shows the suspect, a white male, removing the wallet from the counter and placing it into his pocket. Police have released the video in an effort to identify the suspect.
