Prosecutor: Retired Cop Charged In Connection With Child Porn

BAY COUNTY (WWJ) - A retired Saginaw police detective is facing serious charges after investigators say he was in possession of child pornography.

Authorities say 51-year old Brent Vanderhaar was returning from a deer hunting trip in northern Michigan when he stopped by a McDonald's/Mobil gas station in Bay County Friday where he accidentally dropped three SD digital media cards--that contained images of nude children.

The former officer has been charged with eight felony counts including child sexually abusive activity.
