Who Killed CMU Student? $2,500 Reward Offered In Unsolved Hit-And-Run Death

MOUNT PLEASANT (WWJ) - Authorities are hoping a $2,500 cash reward will be enough to encourage someone to speak up and turn in the driver responsible for the hit-and-run death of a 17-year-old Central Michigan University student earlier this month.

Ryan Tsatsos, of Macomb Township, was run down as he walked to his dorm room in Mount Pleasant just after midnight on Nov. 1. Police say Tsatsos gave his life to save another, pushing a young woman out of the vehicle's path. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tsatsos family will make a public plea for information Friday afternoon at the CMU Event Center.

What makes Tsatsos' death even more tragic for his family is that his 19-year-old brother Darryl was also killed in a car crash earlier this year.

Witnesses described the vehicle as older and dark in color with four doors. Investigators believe the suspect could be from outside the Mt. Pleasant area; possibly outside the state of Michigan.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. To submit a tip, call 1-800-SPEAK-UP, text CSM and your tip to CRIMES (274637), or visit www.1800speakup.org. You can also contact Michigan State Police anonymously at 877-616-4677.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral and other expenses for Tsatsos' family. So far, more than $50,000 has been raised. To contribute or for more information, visit this link.
