$2,000 Reward Offered In Case Of 5 Cats Found Beaten To Death

HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of an Oakland County cat killer.

Authorities are looking to identify the person or persons who beat five cats to death on E. George Ave. in Hazel Park between Sept. 25 and Oct. 4.

According to police, the cats, which were found in the 300 to 400-block of E. George, died of blunt force trauma.

"For somebody to be able to do something like this, it's just heinous and horrendous — it's just horrible," said Shirley Schuler with Crime Stoppers of Michigan. "So we need to find these people and, you know, get them arrested and get them off the street before they do something to more animals or hurt human beings."

Those responsible are wanted on animal cruelty charges.

The Hazel Park Police Department is investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-SPEAK UP. Tipsters can also visit www.1800speakup.org, or text CSM and the tip information to 274637 (CRIMES).
