Second Lounge For Military Travelers Opens At Detroit Metro Airport

ROMULUS (WWJ/AP) - A second lounge for military travelers is opening at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

A dedication ceremony is Thursday for the Freedom Center lounge at the airport's North Terminal.

The lounge provides a warm welcome, comfortable lounge area, free WiFi, hot and cold beverages, as well as personal assistance when needed.

Since its 2011 opening at the airport's McNamara Terminal, the existing lounge has hosted more than 200,000 military members, their family members and veterans.

The airport is located in Romulus.

Freedom Center lounges get support from the Wayne County Airport Authority, the Masco Foundation, Meritor, Delta Air Lines and others. Michigan Armed Forces Hospitality Center Inc. also has other Freedom Center lounges in Troy and Lansing.
