Stranger Danger: Suspicious Man Taking Pictures Of Kids At Middle School

BLOOMFIELD HILLS (WWJ) - Authorities in Bloomfield Hills are warning parents about a possible stranger danger alert.

Administrators at West Hills Middle School say the incident happened Thursday afternoon as students were being dismissed for the day.

A man was seen on campus and it is believed he was taking pictures, perhaps of students. He's descried as approximately 180 lbs. and 5'10" tall, with a beard.

In a letter sent to parents, officials say the man was reported immediately and staff approached the man, who became evasive and left the property.

Police were also notified of the incident and are investigating. Officers have also made plans to be present at the school on Friday during dismissal to watch for any suspicious activity.

School officials want parents to know that the safety of students is their number one priority.

"Please remind your children to be cautious and aware of their surroundings when walking to and from school. It is important to teach "stranger danger" without creating unnecessary panic in a young child," the letter read. "Remind your child that there is safety in numbers and to always tell an adult if they observe anything that makes them uneasy."
