Chilling Testimony From Rochester Hills Woman Who Says Husband Tried To Kill Her

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A 68-year-old Rochester Hills man has been bound for trial on a charge of attempted murder after allegedly shooting at his wife of 31 years.

Sandra Piotrowski testified in court on Tuesday against her husband, John Piotrowski. She recalled chilling details of the Dec. 1 incident in the couple's home, saying her husband shot at her as she called 911 for help.

"I was leaning down, to try to get anything between me and him — but there really wasn't anything I could hide behind," Sandra Piotrowski said.

"He stood there and he raised his hand and he shot at me," she said. "And I asked the lady on 911, 'Did you hear those shots?' And she said, 'Yes I did.'"

Both shots missed, but Sandra Piotrowski said there was no doubt as to her husband's intentions.

"He said: 'I am going to kill you,'" she testified, adding that her husband had been drinking prior to the attack. "I thought I was going to die that night. I thought I was going to die."

When deputies arrived at the home that afternoon — in the 2500 block of John R, near East Auburn Road — they were surprised to find a total of 145 firearms. Deputies ended up removing 87 rifles and 58 handguns from the house.

A $500,000 bond for John Piotrowski was continued pending an upcoming trial in Circuit Court. The former Vietnam veteran faces up to life in prison if convicted.
