3 Lansing Officers Remain On Leave After Fatal Shooting

LANSING (AP) -- Three Lansing police officers remain on paid administrative leave during an investigation into the fatal shooting of a home invasion suspect.

The Lansing Police Department said Monday those involved in the Thursday night shooting were Sergeant Kevin Schlagel, a 12-year veteran, and Officers Walter Kim and Ryan Hackenberg. Kim is a 17-year veteran while Hackenberg is a two-year veteran.

Terrozza Griffin was killed after a standoff, a house fire and an exchange of gunfire, according to police.

Twelve officers initially were placed on administrative leave in accordance with standard protocol while the state police investigate. Six will return to full duty and three others will be reassigned to paid administrative duty.

After a two-hour standoff, officers say they noticed fire and smoke, entered the home and were met with gunfire.
