Detroit Woman Randomly Attacked, Stabbed By Man Who Crawled Through Window

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities in Detroit are searching for a sexual predator who brutally attacked a 39-year-old woman with a knife after entering her home through a window.

The incident happened around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Radnor Street near Warren Avenue, in an east side neighborhood close to the city's border with Grosse Pointe Farms.

Detroit Police Officer Dan Donakowski said the woman was in her bedroom when the suspect entered the home through a front living room window.

"He entered her bedroom and assaulted her. He also tried to sexually assault her but the victim was able to fight him off," he said.

The woman fought him off, but she might end up paying for it with her life. Donakowski said she was stabbed several times during the struggle and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital with wounds all over her body.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Investigators are now extremely concerned that he might strike again.

"At this point, [the attack] does appear random," said Donakowski.

The suspect is described as a light-complected black male, 17- to 21-years-old, 6'1" tall and 140 lbs. with a beard and mustache. He was wearing a blue jean jacket, red hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
