The Lions' search for a permanent general manager will kick off "in earnest" Monday, according to team president Rod Wood. And according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Seahawks co-director of player personnel is a candidate.

Wood has emphasized that interim Lions GM Sheldon White will have a chance to interview for the permanent position. But owner Martha Firestone Ford also hired former NFL general manager Ernie Accorsi to help lead the search for a GM outside of the current organization.

Kirchner has been involved with scouting for the Redskins and Panthers, and has been with the Seahawks since 2010 as director of pro personnel and in his current role, as co-director of player personnel. According to Schefter, Kirchner interviewed with the Jets last season.

He also has been to two Super Bowls with the Seahawks - in 2014, when Seattle won, and last year, when they lost to the Patriots.
