Frigid Temps Settle In, Metro Detroit's First 'Real' Taste Of Winter

DETROIT (WWJ) - It took a while to get here, but winter weather and the accompanying frigid temps have arrived in metro Detroit.

Temperatures were ice-cold Tuesday morning, hovering around 10 degree mark. CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus said we're expecting to see some sun, but don't expect it to make much of a difference.

"It's a good looking Tuesday but it's going to be a cold one," said Madaus. "We'll start out in the teens and jump into the 20s. Bundle up."

The good news is we won't see snow until late this week, just mostly sunny skies.

"Into Wednesday, we're looking at sunshine and warmer temps with a high around 36 and similar weather on Thursday," said Madaus.

On Friday, rain shows up in the forecast and it will be sticking around for the weekend.

"The high temperature will be around 41 on Friday and the same thing on Saturday, high around 42," said Madaus. "Snow showers are also possible on Sunday."

Here's the local forecast from the CBS Detroit weather team:

Tuesday -- Mostly sunny; cold. High near 28F. Low around 20F.

Wednesday -- Partly sunny skies with clouds overnight. High 36F. Low 26F.

Thursday -- Cloudy skies early will become partly cloudy later in the day. High 37F. Low near 30F.

Friday -- Rain likely. High 41F. Low 36F.

Saturday -- Overcast with rain showers at times. High 42F. Low around 30F.
