2nd Man Charged In Carjacking, Slaying Of Musician On Christmas Eve

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A second man has been charged in the Christmas Eve carjacking and slaying of a church musician in Detroit.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says 18-year-old Darnell Young of Inkster was arraigned Friday on first-degree murder, felony murder, carjacking, armed robbery, and gun charges.

Police say 33-year-old Anthony Tolson was ordered out of his Chevy Trailblazer and shot on the city's east side. He had just left a Christmas Eve church service and was heading to his mother's home.

Tolson's bass guitar and gifts for his children were inside the SUV which was taken.

No motive for the shooting has been revealed and police haven't said whether it's believed Tolson knew his killers.

Charles Cox was arraigned Thursday in Tolson's slaying. He and Young remain jailed. They face a Jan. 22 probable cause hearing and a Jan. 28 preliminary examination.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Detroit police 313-596-2260 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
