FLINT (WWJ/AP) – Police say a 3-year-old boy has been found dead in Flint after apparently finding a loaded gun and accidentally shooting himself.

Police say they responded late Wednesday and found the child had been shot. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated that the child found the unsecured weapon and that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

No arrests were immediately reported.

Police say the death remains under investigation.
