Michigan High School Pays For New Gym Floor By Selling Ads

PORT HURON (AP) - A Michigan high school that's been raising money to replace its gym floor has reached its $120,000 goal after selling ads to be displayed on the floor.

Port Huron Northern High School's athletic director and assistant principal Jason Kasparian tells the Times Herald of Port Huron that the new floor should be completed this summer.

Fundraising efforts were announced in February 2015 and coincided with the celebration of the school's 50th year. Corporate sponsorship helped the school make its goal, with 10 spots planned for 3-by-5-foot business logos on the floor. One spot is still available for $10,000.

Any funds raised over the cost of the floor will stay in Northern High School's budget and be spent on additional updates and equipment for the gym.
