Woman Caught With Large Concealed Knife At Oakland County Courthouse

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 40-year-old Genesee County woman is behind bars after deputies say she tried to bring an 11-inch knife into an Oakland County courthouse.

According to Oakland County Sheriff's officials, officials on duty at the 6th Circuit Court in Pontiac, Tuesday afternoon, saw the woman enter the south lobby and present her purse for screening.

When the handbag passed through the x-ray machine, deputies discovered the large, non-folding, curved double-edged weapon (pictured) — described by deputies as what appeared to be "some type of fighting style knife" — concealed inside.

The woman was arrested and taken to the Oakland County jail on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

No one was hurt.

Sheriff's officials say the woman is a Schwartz Creek resident, but have not released her name pending a formal arraignment. A warrant request was expected to be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for review on Wednesday.
