Woman Charged With Stabbing Mother At GM Tech Center In Warren

WARREN (WWJ) - A woman accused of stabbing her own mother at the GM Technical Center in Warren on Wednesday has been charged with assault and possession of a deadly weapon.

Chavonne Taylor, 32,was arraigned in 37th District Court Friday, court officials confirmed.

Police said Taylor stabbed her mother, a GM worker, at least three times after a visit to the complex Wednesday turned violent.

The situation unfolded Wednesday morning when Taylor arrived at the Vehicle Engineering Center and asked for 52-year-old Stephanie Kerr.

The walked outside the lobby where they got into an argument, according to Warren Mayor Jim Fouts. That's when Taylor allegedly pulled out a steak knife and stabbed Kerr several times in the neck, abdomen and back.

The confrontation was stopped by a contracted valet driver who pulled his licensed concealed carry pistol.

Kerr was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and underwent surgery. She was last reported in stable condition.

Taylor was held by GM security and later arrested by Warren police.

Investigators have not yet revealed a motive behind the stabbing attack, which remains under investigation.
