Detroit Lions Sued By Former Combine Participant Over Alleged Concussion

To further pile onto their 7-9 season, the Lions are now being sued in Wayne County Circuit Court after a participant in the 2014 super regional combine at Ford Field claimed he was injured from a falling piece of metal.
Shahid Paulhill was participating in the combine in 2014 when he claims he was hit by a piece of metal about two feet long. Paulhill's agent, Rod Ardoin, told the Detroit Free Press that the defensive tackle suffered a "substantial" concussion.
"It was a substantial concussion to where the facility doctors, the doctors that were on hand, actually withheld him from running in the combine at all, period," Ardoin said to the Free Press. "I mean, blurred vision, headaches, nausea, the whole nine yards."
Paulhill played for five seasons at Temple, where he began starting as a redshirt freshman. During his senior year, he started nine games, then decided he wasn't coming back for a fifth year, before reversing course and eventually returning to the school.
Players can register, and pay to attend, NFL regional combines, which are opportunities for players who aren't invited to the regular NFL combine in Indianapolis. All regional combines are held at NFL "club facilities," including Ford Field in 2014.
The civil suit was filed on Thursday, and a status conference on the case is scheduled for May 17.
