Valenti & Foster Recap: Don't Call Terry An Uncle Tom

(CBS Detroit) While Mike Valenti was away on vacation Thursday, the Valenti & Foster show on 97.1 The Ticket got even more heated than usual.

One caller accused Foster of being Stephen from the movie "Django Unchained" -- aka the "senior house slave" -- after Foster objected to the Lions' Eric Ebron Tweeting out a photo of himself on a T-shirt with the slogan "F*** sh** up and leave."

"You're one of those Stephen from Django-type ninjas," the caller said.

After the call, Foster said black people hear they're either "too black or not black enough." "That's what we have to deal with every day," he said.

Foster had already Tweeted Ebron, telling him it wasn't a good idea to promote a T-shirt with salty language on it. He also Tweeted that he looked like a guy who wanted to be released from his team.

And Ebron blocked him.

Some callers supported him, others criticized, but Foster erupted at the caller who basically said he was catering to white people by objecting to Ebron's profanity. The caller said his black man card had been revoked.

"What did this guy do when he didn't like my position on Eric Ebron having profanity out there? And I challenge this guy ... I bet this guy has done nothing for black culture but bitch ... Folks, it is an everyday occurrence that has happened in black culture since, who knows, slavery."

Even afternoon host Bob Wojnowski got in on the action.

Many callers supported Foster. "This is how we like things in America," one woman said. "When you're here, you're going to have to conform to certain things ... We want you to behave a certain way, we want you to have a certain amount of respect."

Ebron later reacted himself on Twitter, responding to producer Mike Sullivan.

He did not accept Sullivan's offer to call the show.
