Anibal Sanchez has been sent home from spring training with a "bronchial ailment," according to reporters in Lakeland, Fla.

Sanchez has had a rough few months, dating back to the end of the 2015 season. He went to the 15-day disabled list in September last season, then felt shoulder soreness during a bullpen session towards the end of those 15 days. Manager Brad Ausmus thought it would be best at the time to shut down Sanchez' season.

Now, Sanchez is suffering from this "bronchial ailment." "Bronchial" refers to the tubes that carry air into the lungs.

The 32-year-old has spent the last four years in Detroit. Last year, he started 25 games (yielding a 10-10 record) and finished with a 4.99 ERA. Sanchez is expected to be in the Tigers' starting rotation once healthy, along with Justin Verlander, Jordan Zimmermann, Mike Pelfrey and likely Daniel Norris.
