3 Charged In Beating Death Of Detroit Firefighter

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Three people are facing murder charges in connection with the beating death of a Detroit firefighter.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Friday afternoon that Timmy Soto, Nicole Oneill and Christian Rasnick have been charged with murder, armed robbery and arson in the case involving firefighter David Madrigal.

Investigators say the suspects went to Madrigal's home on Vaughan Street, on Detroit's west side, in December and robbed and beat him. Madrigal, 59, was found dead two days later.

Police said Madrigal's house was ransacked and several items were stolen. Madrigal's 2015 Harley Davidson-model Ford Explorer, which was also stolen, was set on fire before it was discovered.

Madrigal was a 26-year veteran of the fire department. A union official has said he planned to retire sometime this year.

Fire officials have said Madrigal took part in parades and feeding Detroit's homeless.
