Man Driving Down Road Killed By Falling Tree [PHOTO]

MARION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - A 26-year-old man has been killed by a dead tree that fell on top of his vehicle in Livingston County.

Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte identified the driver as Gary Cox of Gregory, who was traveling in Marion Township when the tree fell Wednesday afternoon. Bezotte says the tree was big enough to crush Cox's Ford Expedition.

The passenger in the SUV was Cox's fiancée, 22-year-old Alicia Emmons, according to The Livingston Daily Press & Argus. Emmons, who is pregnant, had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Authorities believe the tree fell because of high winds.
