Woman Charged In Wild Detroit Gas Station Shooting Caught On Video

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 20-year-old Detroit woman is jailed on multiple charges, accused of shooting a man multiple times in a wild scene caught on camera.

Shamicah Burton was arraigned in 36th District Court on two counts of assault with intent of murder, carrying with unlawful intent, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm in connection with the incident early Sunday morning at a gas station.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says it is alleged that Burton went to the passenger side of the car she was in — at the Mobil on Fenkell in Detroit — grabbed a handgun and fired several shots at a man inside another car, wounding him.

After another man was able to wrestle the weapon away from her, she fled the scene, and the injured man was driven to a local hospital. A second man was hurt, police said, when he was struck by the wounded man's car.

High-definition security video of the incident went viral online — partially due to the unusual clothing Burton had on at the time of the crime — and helped police  to identify and arrest the suspect.

Burton remained held Wednesday on a $500,000 cash/surety bond.

She will be back in court for a probable cause conference on Tuesday, April 5, following by a preliminary exam scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 before Judge Kenneth King.

Burton's stepfather was arrested on an unrelated traffic charge, according to police. A third person arrested in connection with the incident was discharged.
