2 Detroit Museums Offer Extended Hours During Spring Break
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Historical Museum and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum are offering extended hours while many students are on spring break.
From Monday through Friday, the Detroit Historical Museum will be open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Detroit's Belle Isle will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The museums are closed Sunday for Easter.
Admission is free. Attractions include a temporary exhibition about a trailblazing television station titled "America's Broadcasting Pioneer: WGPR-TV 62." WGPR, which went on-air in 1975, is billed as the nation's first African American-owned and operated station.
Displays feature "The Scene," a popular dance show, and the work of the influential DJ known as the Electrifying Mojo.
