Police Apprehend 1 Of 2 Men Wanted In Kidnapping, Rape Of Woman In Lincoln Park

LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - One of the suspects wanted in connection with a horrific kidnapping and sexual assault Downriver is now in police custody.

Lincoln Park police confirmed to WWJ Tuesday morning that one of the two suspects has been arrested, while the second suspect remains at large. Police are expected to release further details on the investigation at a Tuesday afternoon press conference.

Police say the suspects pulled a handgun on a 23-year-old Detroit woman last Wednesday, at around 9 p.m., as she was parked at a Walgreens pharmacy at Fort Street and Southfield Road. They allegedly carjacked the woman and then drove around in her vehicle "periodically taking turns raping" her, according to police.

The suspects were caught on security camera, police said, when they stopped by buy cigarettes at a Sunoco gas station convenience store on Southfield Road.

The ordeal ended with the pair letting their victim go because the younger suspect, who was on a tether, "needed to be home by 10 p.m.," according to police.

The victim dialed 911 and was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

Police have not yet indicated which suspect was arrested and which suspect remains at large.

Suspect number one (pictured) is described as a black male with a medium complexion, around 22 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 150 lbs. He was wearing a black hoodie under a blue jacket, jeans and black shoes with red trim.

The second suspect is a black male with a darker complexion, around 19 years old, and 6 feet tall, 150 lbs. His hair was described as "hanging braids." He was wearing a tether, a zippered dark blue jacket and black jeans.
