MONROE (WWJ) – A Monroe Township man is behind bars charged with abusing a small child.

Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malon say 28-year-old Christian Sampier  was arrested as his home in the 1700 block of Magnolia days after he harmed the 3-year-old toddler.

The arrest comes as a result of an investigation launched after authorities were called to a Toledo area hospital to check on a child abuse complaint.

The victim, Malon said, had “suffered severe and life threatening injuries.”

Sampier was arraigned in First District Court Friday on two counts of first degree child abuse charge. Bond was set at $200,000 and he remains lodged in the Monroe County Jail.

Meantime, sheriff’s detectives are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Det. Mike Preadmore at 734-240-7719.
