REDFORD (WWJ) – Police have surrounded a neighborhood in Redford where an armed man, believed to be a robbery suspect, is holed up inside a home.

The situation unfolded just before noon Wednesday at a home on Riverpark near Grayfield, in a neighborhood just east of Telegraph Road and West Chicago Street.

Lt. David Holtz said it all started with when a woman was robbed in front of the man’s house. Holtz said the suspect pistol-whipped the woman, whom he was acquainted with, then ran inside the home.

Officers say the situation is contained, with the suspect inside his own house. Police have obtained a search warrant for use after the situation is resolved, Holtz said.
