Sound Effects Giant Ric Viers Releases Spooky 666th Volume

MACOMB (CBS 62) - His work appears on more sound effects products than anyone on the planet and he's from Michigan.

Sound effects house Detroit Chop Shop owner Ric Viers started his business as a hobby that's grown by leaps and bounds. "I am the world's largest producer of independent sound effect libraries," said Viers to the CBS 62 Eye on Detroit team.

Viers just released his 666th sound effects library called Haunted FX. "Hopefully the ultimate horror sound effects collection," said Viers.

Beyond sound effects he's published books including "The Sound Effects Bible" and "The Location Sound Bible".

Viers favorite part about the business is giving back to the next generation of audiophiles. The experience of his interns is documented in a YouTube series.

Former intern Steve Pankotai is grateful for the opportunity to work at Detroit Chop Shop. "The skills I learned here have enabled me to work on feature films and short films and commercials and being part of it is something I wouldn't trade for anything," said Pankotai.
