Running Without Fear: Metro Detroiter Laces Up For Boston Marathon

DETROIT (WWJ) - Metro Detroit will be represented well at this year's Boston Marathon.

Dan Evans of Royal Oak is among the runners lacing 'em up for the run. His father, Steve, made the trip to Beantown to cheer him on. His son is a sub-three-hour marathoner who qualified in just his second race.

"He just ran Detroit twice and then that Grand Rapids marathon ... to qualify for Boston on your second marathon is pretty awesome, but he was a very talented runner, making it to state finals in high school," said Evans. [Mile By Mile Guide]

Evans says it's a defiant mood in Boston, as runners and residents vow to keep the famed race going, despite being just three years removed from a terror attack.
