Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) – The weekend is here again, which means construction crews are going to be out in full force — especially on I-275, where big delays are expected.

The following road work projects have been announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275:

In Oakland County, north and south I-275 between I-696 and 5 Mile will have two lanes closed 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Expect delays.

As part of the I-275 project, work on the Haggerty Road bridges require lane closures on freeways below bridges.

Through May 2, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, these lane closures will occur:
-- North I-275 ramp to west I-96 will have one lane closed, and one lane open.
-- North I-275 ramp to north M-5 will have one lane closed, and one lane open.
-- West I-696 RAMP to north M-5 will close and traffic detoured.
-- East I-96 RAMP to south I-275 will have one lane closed, and one lane open.

In Wayne County, west 7 Mile closed over I-275 through May 2 for bridge work. Detour is 8 Mile.

NOTE: The I-275 project (5 Mile to 696/96/M5) does not yet have a closure date. It's expected to be sometime in May.

I-94:

In Wayne County, west I-94 from M-10 (Lodge) to Trumbull and east I-94 from Rosa Parks to Trumbull, there will be one lane closed beginning 7 p.m. Friday. The M-10 ramps to I-94 west ramps will close. From 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, and from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, closure extends to two lanes.

At 5 a.m. Monday, three lanes will be open on east and west I-94 at Trumbull with traffic shifted to the right shoulder acting as the right lane. The M-10 ramps to west I-94, will remain closed. This situation will remain until late June.

I-75:

In Oakland County, I-75 between Clintonville and Giddings will have one lane open for construction; north from 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday, south from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

In Oakland County, the north and south Baldwin ramps to south I-75 will close 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday for construction. Joslyn Road ramp to south I-75 will remain open.

In Oakland County, I-75 north and south ramps to University Drive has single lane closure through May 6 for construction.

M-10: (Lodge)

In Wayne County, north and south M-10 (Lodge) ramps to west 94, ramps will close until late June, beginning 7 p.m. Friday for work on I-94 Trumbull bridge.

In Wayne County, Jefferson Ave between Randolph and Griswold has two lanes closed, 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for local event.

M-24: (Lapeer Rd)

In Oakland County, north and south M-24 from Harmon Rd to Clarkston Road will have daily lane and shoulder closures through November for construction.
