Farmington Public Schools Plan More Water Testing After Elevated Lead Found

FARMINGTON (WWJ/AP) - More testing is planned of water in a suburban Detroit school district's buildings after slightly elevated levels of lead were found at some drinking fountains and other fixtures.

Farmington Public Schools says testing was done as a precaution amid Flint's crisis with lead-tainted water.

Elevated levels of lead were found in certain fixtures at five buildings, including two drinking fountains at Beechview Elementary, a kitchen sink at Harrison High School and a faucet in science classroom at North Farmington High School, according to WXYZ-TV.

The district says elevated levels may be due to individual fountains and sinks. Following the testing, some may be taken out of service.

Another round of testing is set for Saturday at district buildings. Across the state, schools have boosted testing amid Flint's water crisis.
