Worker Dies After Accident At Michigan Food Processing Plant

EAST JORDAN, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 44-year-old worker has died after an accident at a food processing plant in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.

Police and firefighters responded late Monday to Burnette Foods in East Jordan and found the man dead at the scene.

TV station WWTV reports family members of Curtis Fay of East Jordan say he worked cleaning machines at the Charlevoix County plant.

East Jordan police Chief Terry McDonnell tells WPBN-TV that he fell into a mixer area. The death is under investigation.

MLive.com reports Burnette Foods produces fruit, vegetable products, juices and sauces. John Pelizzari, chief operating officer of Burnette Foods, says such accidents are "a tragedy." He says the company is cooperating with authorities on the investigation.
