$5,000 Reward Offered In Gun Store Break-In, Robbery

DAVISON TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities are offering a cash reward up to $5,000 for information about a recent break-in and robbery at a gun store in Davison Township.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, April 23 at Williams Gun Sight Company, a federal firearms dealer on Lapeer Road near I-69 and South Irish Road.

Investigators say a group of suspects used a stolen minivan to smash through the business' service doors. Once inside, the suspects were captured on surveillance video stealing a total of 35 semiautomatic pistols and revolvers, according to police.

Four of the suspects have been arrested and multiple firearms have been recovered, but several weapons are still missing and one suspect remains at large.

"We take this crime very seriously. The theft of firearms from licensed gun dealers is a top priority for ATF," S. Robin Shoemaker, special agent in charge of ATF's Detroit Field Division, said in a statement. "These firearms are now on the street with the strong potential of being used in violent crimes when they are sold to or end up in the wrong hands. Through our experience, we know that tips from the public can result in the recovery of those stolen firearms."

Anyone with information is urged to contact the ATF Flint Office at 810-341-5710 or Davison Township police at 810-653-5656.
