Man Arrested After Student Found Dead In Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR (AP) - Police say a man has been arrested after an 18-year-old high school student in Benton Harbor was found dead near a road.

A school bus driver discovered the body about 7:15 a.m. Thursday near Benton Harbor High School in southwestern Michigan. Investigators are treating the death of Grady Manns as a homicide. Police say the suspect was arrested on Thursday.

The man's name wasn't immediately released on Friday morning, pending formal charges. Cause of death also hasn't been released.

Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety Deputy Director Mike Clark tells the Kalamazoo Gazette that the man confessed during an interview with detectives. He says that based on the interview police don't believe the death was linked to school-related issues.

Police say they're searching for a weapon.
