Man Seen With AK-47 In Surveillance Footage Wanted In Connection With Deadly Robbery

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for a man who is believed to be a suspect in a string of robberies that left one man dead last week.

Police Chief James Craig said the man caught on surveillance video at a marijuana dispensary was seen handling an AK-47.

The suspect -- who police say is known as "White Boy"-- is seen handing over the weapon to another person at the dispensary at State Fair and Russell.

"White Boy" is described as a black male, 20 to 25-years-old, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet, 220 to 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing torn jean shorts and vest with a dark gray or black shirt with red sleeves.

Craig said the suspect was part of a crew who robbed and killed a 21-year-old man in the area of Packard and Savage on May 6 at around 7:15 p.m.

Police say that another incident took place later that night just before 8 p.m. when the same crew shot a 27-year-old man outside his home in the 2000 block of Meade.

Two other suspects were arrested following the incident.

"Help us find this third suspect, who was in possession of a high-powered weapon -- who created fear in our community -- so we can bring a sense of closure to the family in this case," Craig said.
