DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are looking for help from the public to identify a suspect wanted in the armed robbery of a Mexican restaurant on the city’s southwest side.

Police say an armed, masked man walked into Taqueria El Rey on Vernor last Monday evening and demanded money from the cash register.

The robber can be seen on security video pointing a gun at the clerk and then at guests inside the popular taco joint before grabbing money from behind the counter.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and around 160 to 180 lbs. with blond hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved burgundy shirt with blue jeans. He was armed with a silver handgun.

He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
