The Snack Attack: Checkers' New Kool-Aid Slushies Make 'Em Say OH YEAH! [TASTE TEST]
Just in time for the arrival of summer, Checkers Drive-In has introduced a product sure to make you say "OH YEAH!" -- Kool-Aid Slushies.
The new slushies come in two popular Kool-Aid flavors: Tropical Punch and Blue Raspberry (which is actually Blue Raspberry Lemonade).
There's really nothing complicated here, it's frozen Kool-Aid you can drink. Checkers says, "Nothing's gonna cool you down like this! It's an icy, slushie, sweet treat of a drink that provides crazy refreshment." Yes, yes it does.
If you like Kool-Aid, you MUST try these! The texture is more like a Slurpee from 7-Eleven than a Slush Puppy drink or Sonic Drive-In Slush. The latter is more like a crushed ice drink, with more liquid and larger chunks of ice, while the Kool-Aid Slushie, like a Slurpee, is a little more solid with the liquid and finer ice crystals combined together.
Tropical Punch Kool-Aid Slushie
I was expecting a drink that was reminiscent of Kool-Aid's Tropical Punch, but the flavor of this drink is over-the-top, deliciously right on. I almost couldn't believe my mouth. It really, really, really tastes like Kool-Aid. Not the kind your mom makes either, the kind you make yourself with an extra scoop of sugar.
Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid Slushie
First off, this flavor isn't blue raspberry straight-up. It's actually blue raspberry lemonade. I'm not too sure why Checkers decided to leave the lemonade part of the flavor off, but whatevs. This slushie tastes exactly like a bomb pop in liquid form. You know -- those red, white and blue rocket shaped Popsicles.
So, which is better?
Going in to this, I thought for sure Tropical Punch would be the best and Blue Raspberry would just be OK. But I was wrong! The Blue Raspberry Slushie is hands-down tastier than the Tropical Punch Slushie.
