Snoop Dogg, Ex-NBA Player Morris Peterson Host Celebrity Basketball Game To Help Flint

FLINT (AP) - Rapper Snoop Dogg and former Toronto Raptors player Morris Peterson are hosting a celebrity basketball game to help Flint amid the city's crisis with lead-tainted water.

"Hoop 4 Water" is scheduled for Saturday at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center.

In January, Snoop Dogg met with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver during a water drive in the city. Peterson, who is from Flint, tells The Flint Journal that the rapper is "concerned with what he can do for the city."

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Morris Peterson Jr. Foundation for water relief efforts.

Flint switched in 2014 to using the Flint River but failed to add the proper chemical treatment. Lead from old pipes leached into the water, and people were exposed for months.
