2 Hurt In Alleged Road Rage Crash Involving School Bus In Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Two people are hospitalized, including one student, following an apparent road rage accident involving a car, an SUV and a school bus in Sterling Heights.

Devon Yono of Macomb Township says he was driving eastbound on 15 Mile Road near Dequindre at around 11:30 a.m. when a Honda Pilot turned out in front of him.

Yono told WWJ's Lauren Barthold he honked his horn and that's when, he said, the other driver became enraged.

"He blocked me and he came outside, ripped off my windshield (wiper)," said Yono, "and as I approached going on my way he blocked me again. So I went around him, and when I was going around him he purposely slammed his gas and hit me and spun me around, and he hit the school bus."

According to witnesses, there were students on the bus, which was in the left turn lane headed southbound on Dequindre when it was hit head-on.

At least one student was seen leaving in an ambulance, and the driver accused of causing the accident was also hospitalized. Their conditions were unknown.

Yono's damaged car ended up in a Thrifty Florist parking lot, but he was unhurt.

The scene was cleared to traffic by 12:30 p.m. An investigation is underway.
