Police: Gunman In Custody After Windsor Manhunt, Shooting Spree

WINDSOR (WWJ) - Windsor police have three people in custody following a series of shootings across from Belle Isle that  led to a manhunt on Wednesday.

It all began just after midnight Tuesday with a 911 call about shots fired in a neighborhood just south of Riverside Dr., a few miles east of the Windsor tunnel.

"Information was that it was possibly a shotgun, and officers arrived and observed spent pellets from the shot shells fired at a residence," said Constable Andrew Drouillard of the Windsor Police Service. "And they learned from the complainant of who the suspect possibly was and that he was heading to another residence."

Two people were arrested near the scene; but the third man — identified by Windsor police as 29-year-old Richard Wallace, aka Michael Graff — escaped.

Reports say that while on the run, Wallace was randomly shooting at street lights on Windsor's east side.

Residents were asked to remain inside with their doors closed while police searched for the suspect — described as a white male wearing camouflage gear and a backpack and armed with a long gun. Streets in the area were blocked to traffic and a massive police presence in the area.

After following shell casings found on the ground, officers cornered Wallace inside a home in the 900-block of Pillette Rd., near Wyandotte at around 9 a.m..

He was taken into custody without incident and no one was hurt.

Multiple charges are pending against all three suspects.
