Tugboat Brings Food, Water To Crew On Freighter Grounded Off Michigan Coast

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (AP) - A tugboat has brought food, water and other supplies to crew members on a grounded freighter in Whitefish Bay off Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

MLive.com reports Wednesday that Soo Marine Supply Inc. made two, three-hour trips to the Roger Blough, which ran aground Friday on a reef. The U.S. Coast Guard is working on freeing the roughly 850-foot freighter.

Soo Marine Supply normally supplies the vessel near the Soo Locks. The company's tugboat made the supply runs to the grounded freighter Saturday and Tuesday on the U.S. Canada border.

Meanwhile, divers are checking the vessel's hull for damage. Authorities are investigating what caused the grounding.

It's not known when the freighter will be freed.
