Thunderstorms Prompt Rescue Of 3 Teens Kayaking On Lake Huron

PORT SANILAC (WWJ/AP) - Three teenagers who were kayaking when a thunderstorm moved across the state had to be rescued on Lake Huron Monday.

A brother and sister, ages 15 and 13, were kayaking with their cousin, a 13-year-old girl, off Port Sanilac when their kayaks overturned, The Times Herald of Port Huron reported.

The Sanilac County sheriff's department says they were near the harbor wall when winds and rain developed. One paddled back to shore. Deputies rescued the other two along with a relative who tried to get to them.

The children, who were wearing life jackets, were taken to a hospital for the treatment of the onset of hypothermia.
