Eastpointe Man Arrested Minutes After Robbing Roseville Bank

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A 25-year-old Eastpointe man is facing up to life in prison, accused of robbing a local bank.

Jonathon Woodward was arraigned in 39th District Court on Thursday on one felony count of bank robbery in connection with the incident the previous day at a Comerica branch on Martin Rd. near Gratiot in Roseville.

According to Roseville Deputy Chief Don Glandon, Woodward walked into the bank at around 2 p.m. Wednesday and handed a note to a teller demanding money.

The teller complied, Glandon said, handing over an unknown amount of cash.  No weapons were displayed, no verbal threats made and no one was injured.

Woodward then allegedly fled in a blue 2009 Saturn, but was stopped by an officer on Gratiot at Utica Rd. "within a minute or so" of a 911 call from bank security.

Woodward was arrested without incident.

He remains held on a $100,000 bond, no 10 percent, awaiting his next court appearance set for Wednesday, June 29.
