Downriver Home 'Filled With Garbage,' More Than 30 Cats Condemned

TAYLOR (WWJ/AP) - A Downriver home has been condemned after it was found filled with garbage and containing more than 30 cats.

Authorities spent several hours Tuesday at the house, located on Harding Street. Officials ended up at the home after being contacted by neighbors, who complained of the smell emanating from the house.

Taylor Animal Control Supervisor Lanny Hall tells WXYZ-TV that it was a severe case of hoarding. More than 30 cats are believed to be inside the home, but only six could be located due to the amount of "junk" cluttering rooms.

A woman and her adult son were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
