Terry Foster: When You Shouldn't Be Able To Buy A Gun

By Terry Foster
The Family Deal

No one wants to take away your guns. No one wants to abolish the second amendment. However, we must do something about gun violence in this country.

I support the politicians that staged two nights of sit-ins in the House of Representatives to try to push some type of gun legislation. There are some common sense measures that need to be passed in this country.

If you are on the terror list you should not be able to purchase a gun in this country. If you are on the no-fly list why should you be allowed to legally buy a gun in this country?

If you have mental health issues why should you have the right to buy a gun?

If you go through the proper checks, then you should be allowed to carry a weapon.

The second amendment was passed before we had terrorist, before 911 and before extremist began plotting against our country. The world has changed and the right to possess arms should change for some also. I don't recognize this world from the one I lived in the 1970s let alone the world we lived in during the 1770s or 1870s.

The latest is the violent massacre in an Orlando night club where a domestic terrorist was able to purchase the guns that allowed him to kill or wound 100 people. It is the worst act of terrorism on our soil since 911.

Nearly 90 percent of Americans support new gun legislation. But the NRA does not. And it is a shame.

So people will continue to shoot up schools, movie theaters and night clubs with legal arms.

It is more difficult to purchase a dog than it is fire arms.

Once again I am not for taking away your arms if you are a responsible adult. Most people that have arms are law abiding citizens and they take gun laws seriously. But we must do more to keep guns away from the people whose sole purpose is to destroy lives and murder our fellow citizens
